Job Description: The Assistant Manager serves primarily as a Sales Lead, taking on management role when the Manager is unavailable (sick, on vacation, days off). As Sales Lead, primary duties include leading by example in enticing market visitors to stop, educating them about our company and products using the fine art of sampling, and converting them into customers! Also mentoring, correcting and encouraging team members, and answering questions from staff and/ or customers.
When acting in management role, primary duties parallel those of Manager and include supervising team, making change and deposits, reviewing paperwork, assisting Manager in scheduling, hiring, training, payroll, inventory, ordering, planning meetings, etc.
To be successful in this position, the following traits and skills are REQUIRED:
• Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven selling and customer service abilities
• Ability to multi-task and control crowds
• Works effectively independently or as part of a team
• Goal oriented and willing to go the extra mile to make sales targets
• Positive, energetic and friendly demeanor with a good sense of humor
• Good cash handling skills
• Punctual and reliable with some schedule flexibility
Other traits that are strongly desired include:
• Experience with a cash register
• Knowledge of gourmet foods (or at least ability to talk about it)
• Knowledge of Pike Place Market
• Enjoys cooking or baking
• Lives close to Pike Place Market or within easy bus-riding distance
• Ability and willingness to work weekends and holidays

Summer Commission Sales Position - Part Time (11-22 hours/week) Base Pay Plus Commission
Seeking positive, outgoing, energetic, cherry and chocolate loving salespeople for at Chukar Cherries outlet in the main arcade at Pike Place Market. Duties include enticing market visitors to stop, educating them about our company and products using the fine art of sampling, and converting them into customers! When not interacting with customers, other duties include keeping the store clean and well stocked, conducting short presentations to a daily food tour group, and helping to maintain the positive energy among co-workers at Chukar Cherries.
