While these cherries make for a pricey pie - the rests are maybe priceless! All I did was add 1/2 teaspoon of almond flavoring because I've always like that with cherry pies I made in the past. When I served it the first time, my friend took one bite and instantly declared this to be the best cherry pie she had ever eaten. A nice touch is an attractive top crust. I used Pillsbury prepared crusts. You'll need some vent holes so before laying the top crust on the filling, use your apple corer to make little holes in the central part of the crust and a knife of other small sharp object to cut a little "stem" from each hole. Voila! Cherries. Then lay the crust and flute the edges. I brushed the top crust with milk and sprinkled with sugar. Perfect!
