In the majestic inland Pacific Northwest, the bountiful place we call home, sweet and sour cherry varietals thrive among apples, wine grapes and other stone fruits while coastal raspberries, cranberries, strawberries and blueberries are a drive away. And stand-out Northwest chefs have developed a flavorful culinary tradition working with local growers, culinary artisans, and wine makers.

Just one visit to Prosser in the Heart of Washington Wine Country inspired Chef Frank Magaña to make the move and pursue a dream of opening his own restaurant and catering company. Chef Magaña moved to Prosser in the spring of 2007 and immediately began catering for the wine industry. A beautiful historic building in downtown Prosser became the home for his vision- Picazo 7Seventeen Wine Bar & Restaurant- and the doors opened in October 2007.
Chef Magaña received the bulk of his culinary training on the job. He attended Culinary School at South Seattle College but family duties called and so before graduating he accepted an Executive Chef position at a premier high-end catering company in Tacoma where he stayed for 7 years. Chef Magaña has over 16 years experience in the restaurant industry, with many of those years spent in some of the Puget Sounds’ finest dining restaurants.
Chef Magaña strives to create a menu that features the best of the Columbia Valley. Picazo 7Seventeen’s Spanish inspired menu changes monthly- showcasing the area’s freshest local product. Using Chukar Cherry products allows the chef to create original dishes using some of the finest local fruit all year round.
