Cherry Sour Cream Dessert Bars

Easy 10 minutes Serves 12
Soft and delicious, these dessert bars balance sour cherries with a sweet cream filling.


  1. For the Crust
  2. 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  3. ¾ cup white sugar
  4. a pinch of salt
  5. ½ cup unsalted butter
  6. 3 to 4 Tbs cold water
  1. For the Filling
  2. ¾ cup sour cream
  3. ¼ to ⅓ cup white sugar
  4. 2 Tbs all purpose flour
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  7. 1 tsp lemon juice
  8. ½ tsp salt
  9. 1 jar Chukar® Sour Cherry Pie Filling


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  1. In a food processor, combine flour, sugar and salt.
  1. Cube butter. Add to flour mixture and pulse until butter is fully incorporated. The mixture should be crumbly.
  1. Adding one Tablespoon of water at a time, pulse crust until dough begins to stick together. Remove dough from processor and divide into two even parts.
  1. Using one part of dough, mold to the bottom of an 8x8 or 9x9 baking pan. Set aside.
  1. To make the filling, whisk together sour cream, sugar, vanilla, lemon juice and egg until smooth.
  1. Add the salt and flour and stir until thoroughly combined. Pour mixture into pan in one even layer.
  1. Spoon 1 jar of Chukar® Sour Cherry Pie Filling on top of sour cream mixture.
  1. Swirl the two mixtures together to create a marble effect.
  1. Crumble the reserved dough over the top of the dish.
  1. Bake for 40-50 minutes.
  1. Remove from oven and let bars cool completely. Cut into 12 even squares and serve.
